VIDEO AND SOUND PRODUCTION
PROJECT 1
Practical
After memorizing the lines provided to us for the project, I booted up FL Studio as I could afford to record the audio with my microphone rather than my phone as it had higher quality and facilitated easier transfer of files to Premiere Pro later on.

Before starting any type of recording, I needed to add some effects to enhance the quality of the voice recording. Some of the standard effects was to have compression to control the uniformity of the volume, a level effect to control the prominence of the high or low end of the voice and some noise removal to get rid of some buzzing in the background. I had considered adding a reverb effect, but considering the open-air environment of the scene, there wouldn't be much echo and I decided against it.

The similar volume between the dialogue and background noise required me to do some tweaking with the volume of the audio clips. According to standards I've read online, background and ambient noises should be around 12db less than the dialogue in a scene. Adding keyframes into the levels also allow me to ease in the dialogue in close cuts, instead to just having a sharp rise in volume from the sudden entry of the dialogue.

After all is said and done, I played the clip over a few times to ensure the noise levels sounded natural. Especially in consideration of the distance between the subject and the camera,

Feedback
Dr. Martin praised my accurate use of noise levels in the video, as it blended well into the environment. The sound effects that I picked were also subtle and didn't draw too much attention to the viewer, only coming into focus when it is the main subject of the shot. Funnily enough, he also liked my voice acting for the two characters, convinced that I was using a pitch changer when it wasn't the case.
Reflection
I had a comparatively easier time with this project that the ones involving a photoshoot. I think this could be attributed to my intermediate experience in mixing and recording music tracks as my own hobby. After this project, I think I've developed a stronger interest in the audio side of video production and would help in my future projects.
